killa & N.E.R.D

so myself, Lupe (the super intern) and P (the Green P, not Skateboard P) made our way into Livestock for the N.E.R.D meet n greet. apparently there was a line-up of loyal fans outside from 9am... i remember when i was a teenager, i used to wait in those lines for hours to meet various boy bands haha (shout outs to the Livestock crew for their hospitality and bypass!!)

a lot of boys... and a lot of BBC!

eventually Pharrell and Shae showed up (fashionably late, of course) and strolled around the store checking out the shoes & gear... then they pulled up a chair to get down to business. i was nervous as hell for some reason and drew a complete blank when i got up for my turn... and it went something like this:

me: hi....

*hands over "In Search Of..." album*

*Pharrell signs album... slides it back over to me. blank stare*

me: umm... thanks!

*walk away awkwardly*

um.

that was it. P got a little more shine from Shae for her "I Heart..." TBG shirt (look for that this Winter!) but didn't really get much out of it either. but i guess you can't expect much from a meet and greet anyways? i wasn't really greeted, IF you wanna get technical... but this is coming from the guys who made one of my fav albums of all time, so i guess i forgive 'em. i GUESS...

killa & P!

as for the concert... N.E.R.D went on first and proceeded to preform tracks mostly from their new album, "Seeing Sounds". makes sense, but i think we were all left feeling a little bummed when the only tracks from the 1st album played were "Brain", "Rockstar" and "Lapdance". maybe that explained why the crowd wasn't that hype?

anyhoo... my top 3 tracks for the night:

-You Know What (my fave off "Seeing Sounds")
-Kill Joy
-Lapdance

and... i'm not much of a Common fan, so the latter part of the show was kind of a bore to me, no disrespect intended...

my sidekicks for the last half of the show... Eeyore fell asleep standing up and Safari and i sent eachother gay (literally) texts! hahahaha

Buffalo!

today was bargain hunting day with Melissa in Buffalo! we both had the same motive... cute shoes/boots. as much as i've been crying over the loss of summer, at least i can have an excuse to buy new shoes. and i'm happy to say that it was mission accomplished for both of us :D mel got the cutest open high heeled oxfords and i got 2 pairs of ankle booties (one leather and the other peep toed patent!). i also left with some new tights (raspberry stirrups, grey/black stripe & lace), a zebra tee and of course, some Vicky's panties

for some reason, whenever i have american money, i ALWAYS carry it around in the envelope i got it in from the bank. classy? maybe i'll start a new trend... who needs rubberbands...

i didn't take my socks off when i was trying on the shoes initially, so i ended up with this weird michael jackson look. not hot. and yes, i was wearing one patent and one leather shoe.

new boots!

my purple pedi peeking out...

the tinest thong we had ever seen. the picture does not do it justice... i don't even think it could fit a teenager! *shudder*

whats in the bag? ;)

yaaaaaaaaay!

and we can't go to Buffalo without hitting up the Cheesecake Factory... we had the buffalo blasts (again) and chicken littles... but i'm always over stuffed and left feeling like i wanna barf after (i know, TMI). we skipped the fried macaroni & cheese balls because we both overdid it with them in general, but if YOU go, DON'T. they are still one of my fav things everrrrrrrrrr....

chicken littles. half the portion was eaten by then already (this is AFTER melissa spilled all the dressing ahahaha)

buffalo blasts... mmmmm

and of course, the grand finale... the cheesecake. luckily, we both have the same fav: Adam's Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple: Creamy Cheesecake Swirled with, Caramel, Peanut Butter, Butterfingers and Reeses' Peanut Butter Cups. need i say more????

then we had a fun drive home that involved evading customs, Red Bull and question and answer time.

what is your favorite animal? "platypus... it's like a cute bear-duck!!!"

what would you be if you weren't doing what you are doing now? "umm... dancehall queen"

what would you name your kids? "______ insert the multiple names we came up with here"

what a fun day :P

A sweater...

I bought a sweater today. then i went shopping for boots.

*cries*

i guess it really means that Fall is here???

boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Parking pt 2

i think this has happened to all of us at some point... you park your car, feed the meter, then find out that the meter has taken your quarters, but has not given you the parking time that you need in return. usually, this is where i express my anger verbally (and profanely) and then find a different meter, feed it and then mourn the loss of my first batch of quarters...

this on the otherhand, is an other option:

i laughed when this got sent to me (thx B!)... but i was told that it worked!

i'm not too sure i'd try it in Toronto tho :P

I should be sleeping....

... but i'm not.

yet.

i have yet another long work roadtrip tomorrow with my BFF, Mar Brown. friday's installment brought us up and down many small, winding, country roads and GPS images that looked like this:

scary. nothing around but trees, cows and the occasional silo. we both decided that the view was nice, but not for us.

the best part of the day? when i spotted the "boarder collie puppies for sale" sign on the side of the road.

Mar just might get to take one of these guys home!!!!!

anyhoo.... this weekend was all about relaxing with girlfriends and eating my sorrows away haha... saturday was so nice outside so i took the opportunity to wear a summer dress, for what might be, the last time this year(shudder). i hate to admit it, but the Fall is coming and... i don't like it one bit!!! i'm gonna miss all the open toes, shorts and dresses :(

Sunday was spent with 2 of my fav girlfriends... Michelle & Jackie (get better soon!!!). we went to Maki Maki (for all you 'Sauga people) for all you can eat Japanese food. i don't know about you, but ever since All You Can Eat came into my life, it's hard to go back to A La Carte! A few shots to give you an idea of why i went there in my fatty pants... hahahaha

Dumbass e-mail forwards...

Ok, we all get a bunch of crap ass e-mail forwards so I am gonna share a particularily far fetched one i received today...

---------------------------------------

For all parents and grandparents -- True, according to Snopes -

Be cautious of hair bands at open markets around the city too – they are probably from China since they are purchased in bulk very very cheap !!!!

Take a good look before buying hair bands in future – specially like the following kind…..

These Hair bands were made from used condoms and threads. That was so disgusting, I would not want to use them!!

BEIJING (AFP) - Used condoms are being recycled into hair bands in southern China threatening to spread sexually-transmittable diseases they were originally meant to prevent, state media reported Tuesday

In the latest example of potentially harmful Chinese-made products, rubber hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in Dongguan and Guangzhou cities in southern Guangdong province, China Daily newspaper said.

'These cheap and colorful rubber bands and hair ties sell well ..... threatening the health of local people,' it said.
Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain bacteria and viruses, it said.

'People could be infected with AIDS, (genital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns,' the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying. A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 s en (three cents), much cheaper than others on the market, accounting for their popularity, the paper said.

A government official was quoted as saying recycling condoms was illegal. China 's manufacturing industry has been repeatedly tarnished this year by a string of scandals involving shoddy or dangerous goods made for both domestic and foreign markets.

In response, it launched a public relations blitz this summer aimed at playing up efforts to strengthen monitoring systems.

Check your kids hair bands and make sure they do not put them in their mouth while trying to plait or tie their hair

The Chinese never fail to amaze me ....

------------------------------------------------------------------

OK YEAH, WHAT KIND OF IDIOT CREATED THIS FABLE?! So lemme get this right... the Chinese go out of their way to filter out used condoms from garbage to make hair ties?! If anything, that just seems like a super complicated way to create these things... def not easy or cost effective...

(don't even get me started on the "The Chinese never fail to amaze me" comment)

I wanna punch these people in the face... All the people who create spoof e-mails, esp. ones that have to do with people's health... stop it! Go do something useful (like jumping off a bridge)

Excuse me while I go tie my hair into a ponytail and NOT worry about getting AIDS...
